Is The Church Failing To Love Jesus and Humans Enough To Go Two By Two And Go And Tell?

Revelation 3:

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. 22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

I am not trying to offend here, I am trying to spur on to good works.  While there are those who ARE doing the works of Christ, a majority are happy by doing just enough to get by.  I point fingers at myself here.  The main issue in the above text is what Jesus is doing and whose house the door was that he was knocking on.  Although this verse is used in evangelistic work, he was NOT addressing the unsaved, he was addressing the Church, he was addressing Christians.  Oh that we would open the door to let Christ back into Christianity.  We don’t even see that we have sent him away.

Christians in the US truly exemplify the Laodicean church.  They are not hot (on fire for door to door ministry like JESUS said to do, it is what he taught his disciples.) they’re not cold (refreshing to those who are in a desert experience) they are luke warm thinking that all Jesus requires of them is to speak of him when they are in the midsts of other Christians.  They have houses full of junk some packed away in boxes they haven’t seen for years.  They do not know or care enough about their neighbors enough to say hello or even ask their names.
And you wonder why we are the laughing stock of the US and why the church has pretty much died in Europe? We have become poor, miserable and blind.
Jesus told the parable of the two sons.  Their father asked that they do a task, the first son said “NO” but later did what his Father had asked.  The other son said, “Sure, Father, I’ll do that for you.”  but didn’t.  Which one did Jesus commend?  It wasn’t the one that was all talk.  WE ARE ALL TALK, while Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons and Muslims are out doing what Jesus said to do.  I have heard it said that door to door ministry is not effective.  HOWEVER, those who are doing are increasing in numbers at an astronomical rate.  One of the largest attended religious meetings going on in our small town are the Jehovah’s Witnesses, while other smaller churches are struggling.  What is the difference?  One puts the pride on the table and does what the Bible says to do, the other says it is not effective (hurts feelings when people curse them or slam doors in their face).  Even though the one is effectively increasing in numbers (and are a cult), the ones who supposedly know the truth are not acting on it, are not laying down their lives for those who are headed to destruction, are NOT OBEYING God in doing things the way His Son told them to do them.  We should be ashamed of ourselves but we say “I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing;”  Not even God.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

  1. The Christian work of preaching and making disciples isn’t a burden but a joy. There are a lot of ways we can witness, the house-to-house work is a joy for those who are humble. This is an article on different ways to witness:
    A lot of people today are like, without hope. When you see people helped and respond, people’s lives changing for the better, it is a wonderful thing.

  2. always look at the motive , some its the money, some its the sex with minors still other to be a god, Jehovahs Witnesses what do they get, lets see they have free home bible studies in which they teach you truths and insist on your searching for truth, then they have meetings which they encourage you top comment, and then if that is not enough they tell you go from door to door all the while knowing that you will be challenged on you beliefs, they do everything that you would not do if you were not telling the truth, so challenge them like I did but be carefull you don’t learn anything.

    • Vicky, Jesus sacrificed his life for us and for God. And so, any sacrifices we make, we make for God, not for men. The door to door work, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, is a joy, it’s not a burden, and everyone does what they can, no more. People study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses for years, and sometimes never become Jehovah’s Witnesses. Still, it helps them to have a better relationship with God. Sometimes, we have to look at the positive side of things, rather than the dark side. When you go door to door, sometimes you are challenged, but most of the times, people are either busy, or in our area, they are pretty happy about it. Most people these days don’t know a whole lot about the Bible. So to persevere, we have to do it not on our own strength, but on God’s strength. We have to rely on him for strength to be able to help others, otherwise we can burn out. Even teachers (which I am one) burn out, because they give and give, but they need to recharge their batteries. Sometimes we might blame the religion when the problem is us. We need to develop a more positive attitude and to learn to give more, then we find what Jesus said is true, “there is more happiness in giving than in recieving.” This is true in our Bible study work and in our preaching work, if we be balanced, take care of our spiritual and physical needs as well. As far as the first things you mentioned, Jehovah’s Witnesses have to have pure motives, but me and my wife preach and teach, we do it willingly, not because anyone is asking us to, because we enjoy it and love people. Our best days together are when we are in the ministry, its very positive and rewarding. We often times return home with joy, the same as it says about the 70 that Jesus sent out. We have to be careful that life’s circumstances get us bitter, but count our blessings, keep positive.
